Having a baby is such an exciting time in life! Anticipating the joy of your sweet little baby is like nothing else. Don’t get caught up in the frazzle, dazzle and EXPENSE though! Your baby will be precious and beautiful no matter if they are wearing a brand new $30 outfit, or the same outfit, gently-used (okay so maybe the previous baby wore it twice) for $8. Save your money for all of the things that will last- your beautiful memories, photographs, trips, etc. Oh, yea, and the doctor visits

So, Three Bags Full offers a “First Time Mom” pre-sale pass opportunity! You can register ahead of time online at www.threebagsfull.info and receive a pass to get in to shop before the general public. Why??? Why is that so GREAT? Because when it’s gone, it’s GONE. Everything at the sale is in super condition, great quality, etc. But hey- those five jogging strollers for sale probably won’t be there on half price day. Some super savvy mom will have snatched them up on opening day. So, get in early, have a plan of attack, and go home with TONS of cute things for your bundle of joy. And, oh yea, money still in your pocketbook.

Hints for First Time Parent’s Pre Sale Shopping at the Three Bags Full Children’s Consignment Events

1. Be aware of the “rules.”

~Bring your shopping pass. It’ll arrive in your email (usually a junk folder) right after you register. This is like the Golden Ticket. The winning lottery ticket. The ticket to an exoctic vaca. You get the idea.

~Record the date/time of entrance. A line forms so come a little bit early to be in the front of the line. Horrid thought: arriving late.

~ This is for FIRST TIME MOMS only. If you are expecting your first, or if your first/only is 12 months or younger, then this early shopping opportunity is for YOU. Yep, you can bring your hubs and the super-excited new grandma with you. (But not a friend, aunt, sister, neighbor, babysitter, pet sitter, doctor, college roomie….you get the idea)

~If your bundle of joy has already arrived, strapping them to the new dad is a great idea instead of a stroller. It tends to get crowded. And, it’ll keep dad busy while you’re buying tons of bargains. Or, talk dad into staying home with the new bundle of joy and you and the super-excited new grandma can bring out your wild side incognito. (He’ll never know.)

~We don’t accept checks but we DO accept Visa/MasterCard if you have a photo ID. Cash always works too.

2. All super savvy shoppers have a plan of attack.

~Be comfy. Wear the stretchy pants. We all know that Target Black Friday chic in heels is SO unrealistic. Have pockets to stash your keys, credit card, a pen (more on that in a bit) and maybe a granola bar. The huge super chic bag you received as a gift with the bundle of joy? Save it for a date night.

~Have a list of stuff you’re looking for. The serious “I have to have” stuff and then the “Hey I’m looking for this” stuff. Then have an open ended list of nothing- that is for all the stuff you find that you didn’t think about ahead of time. Why pass up the super bargain of the year just because you hadn’t written it down?

~While waiting to get in, ask someone where things are located. (The big stuff- the “BIG” stuff- that stuff that everyone wants…go there first. Strollers, hi-chairs, outside play toys, etc. Yep, that’s the big stuff. This is when you’ll need that pen by the way). Know of something specific you’re looking for? Ask around to the other people in line. Chances are they know a consignor, have an inside scoop or maybe are just as eager as you. Make a new friend. Hey- playgroup time!

~Time to enter! Big blue shopping bags available right inside the door. Yes. You each need one.

~Have a question? Look for a mom in a Three Bags Full t-shirt or a yellow Three Bags Full apron. It’s their stuff that is for sale and they know RIGHT where everything is. (See a dad helping out? Chances are he was hired for muscle. Find him when you need to load your car).

3, Let the Bargain Busting Shopping Extravaganza Begin!

~ It’s worth repeating. Shop for the BIG items on your “must have” list first. When you are 200% sure it’s what you want, complete the “Buyer Info” (you) on the CLAIM TICKET. Tear off the bottom half and keep it. Leave the item sit. The dudes hired for muscle will watch over it for you.

~Shop next for the other “must have’s” on your list. Everything is organized by category, size and gender. Look for the fluorescent signs.

~CUTE CLOTHES! Not just for the bundle of joy, but for you too! Professional Attire for Moms (dressy & dressy casual) usually have some awesome finds. The Juniors and Young Mens are worth checking out too- those current, hip, trendy brands you wore before baby- you’ll get back in’em! Don’t forget- that bundle of joy will grow into a crawling, toddling, walking, running precious likeness of you! Buy up! Buy for the next size, season, etc and you’ll save tons and tons and tons. Really. Take our word for it. The worst thing is needing to go pay retail (even sale retail) when you could have bought it at THE SALE for way less.

~Think ahead. Know anyone else with kids? Chances are you’re invited to the birthday party. Check out the new Melissa & Doug toys, the awesome gently-used (or maybe never used) toys and create a gift closet. Just stuff it with stuff b/c you ARE going to need it. Leave the ”darn it, I have to go buy a gift” moments behind- save money and just visit your gift closet.

~Ready to check out? Our line *may* look daunting, but it actually goes pretty fast. We often come through line with chocolate and water so don’t hesitate to say “ME! I need chocolate!” You’ll get your items all scanned, bagged and ready to go, then you’ll step to the front of the line to pay.

~COME BACK! Had an item or two you just weren’t sure about and you put it back? Come back on Half Price Night or Half Price Day. Anything with red dots on the tags are now 50% off. Way cool. This time, bring the friend, pet sitter, college roomie…anyone you know that wears clothes. Because really, there is something for everyone. Kids of all ages, sizes, interests. Get on the email list, mark your calendars because Guess what??? You can do it again! We have four locations all over Central Ohio, and being a newbie mom you can shop them all! Each sale is different- after all different moms are selling different stuff, so there is different stuff each time.

What about next time? SELL. What? yep! SELL. Sell at least 10 items and instead of shopping early with the New Moms you can shop SUPER EARLY with the consignors. That’s the bomb, baby! And hey- we all know you got a couple outfits for the bundle of joy that you didn’t like. Or, a few maternity outfits that just never did fit beyond that first wearing. Sell them! Another mom will be SO excited you did!

So, what to do with all the clothing that we used to sell in bags?? Read on!

With space at some locations becoming more and more valuable, we’re re-vamping a few procedures. For example, ALL clothing now must be hung NOT sold in bags. First of all, things on a hanger always sell better than in a bag. We do our best to get the bagged items up and out where they can be seen, but let’s face it- pre-sale night they are usually piled high in a basket or box and are hard to shop!

So, the better option (for you selling and for us with floor space) is to hang them!

*Pair socks, one-sies, hats, hair pieces, etc. with outfits. You can use one hanger and sell multiple pieces (Yea!). Hang the t-shirt/one-sie. Put a sweater or sweatshirt over it. Then flip it over and pin the pants to the shoulder part of the hanger. Then put a matching hat, socks, hair bow, belt, etc in a ziploc bag. Use clear packing tape to TAPE THE BAG SHUT and then safety pin the bag (going through the tape of course) to the shoulder of the hanger. Voila! TONS of items on ONE hanger- and you priced it as ONE item! You’ll end up making more on the whole outfit than if you had bagged and hung everything separately. (Plus it is so much easier and you end up needing fewer supplies.) Need help? Watch our video on hanging multiple pieces for a visual.

What about bottles (without used nipples), new pacifiers, feeding supplies, etc? Those can still be bagged like before. However, be sure to read through the “Items Accepted” in the Consignor Library for a full list of any additional “tweaks” to what we can accept.

What about blankets and bibs? Bibs can often be treated in the same manner as socks, one-sies, etc as mentioned above. Or, just pick your BEST ones, and hang them all on one hanger. (Be sure to safety pin them together for security.) Blankets- SELL MANY TOGETHER! Drape several over a hanger, safety pinning them together. They will sell better than if you put quite a few in a bag. Moms can see them better, and they are easy to shop from the beginning! While blankets are not clothing, and we will still accept them in a bag, they will sell better if hung!

Stay tuned for more tips and tricks to make your sale season easy, successful and FUN!

Is your address correct? Please double check!!! Log in, click on “update account info” and be
sure your email, phone & mailing address are correct. This must be done for EACH sale location in which you have ever consigned! Do so before the system close date!

Checks will be mailed to the address on file at the time of the system close date. Checks are not forwarded and will not be re-mailed. If your address is incorrect at the time of the system closing, a $30 stop payment fee is required prior to reissuing the check. Checks will not be mailed more than once! (Sorry! We are re-issuing too many checks, re-mailing them, because of old addresses. Please update your info at the beginning of each sale season!)

Due to the Ohio Department of Commerce’s decision to handle your items in the same manner as a brick and mortar resale/consignment store, any item with any kind of filling (fiber-fill) is now required to have a special spray to sanitize the item. They put the burden of sanitizing on the seller, not on the buyer. (Note: if you sell your item anywhere other than your personal property, they are trying to regulate you. To file a complaint, contact the Ohio Department of Commerce.) Items sprayed must be “thoroughly sanitized with one of two approved chemicals, left out for 30 minutes to dry, may not come in contact with unsanitized items, must be sprayed in a separate, well-ventilated area, mattresses may not touch the floor while cleaned, items must be re-sprayed if they come in contact with humans…” are some of the reasons we are no longer accepting the following items:

Mattresses

Carseat headrests

Changing table pads

Any sleep aid that has filling

Blankets with filling

Boppy pillows

Stuffed toys, stuffed dolls

Comforters, bumper pads, mattress covers

Other items that have filling (bicycles, strollers, hi-chairs, etc. ARE accepted. We will spray them prior to PreSale.)

If you have a question, email DeAnn@threebagsfull.info. These changes are for ALL sale locations.

3BF Online Marketplace: The place to sell your large, hard to transport items (furniture, 4 wheeler, swingset, etc) Email us a photo & info about the item, as well as the purchase price. Using paypal, pay 10% of the listing price to DeAnn@threebagsfull.info. When payment, photos & info is received, it will be posted on facebook and on our website. (Reach 6,000+ Three Bags Full shoppers) Please notify us when the item sells so we can remove the info. (Yes! You can sell your bedding via the 3BF Online Marketplace.)

Drop Off Procedures have changed slightly. Be sure to read the “Drop Off Instructions” for your sale location.

Due to space limitations at some locations, the “Items Accepted” will vary. Please be sure to read documentation for each sale location individually. An item accepted at one sale location may not be accepted at a different sale location. We are no longer accepting any bagged clothing. ALL clothing/attire MUST be hung.

The “oops” method of checking clothing worked well in the fall. Drop-off was significantly faster and items were more consistently checked. However, we want to prevent consignors from abusing the system thinking “It’s not checked, I’ll take it” or “They won’t know if I’m over my item limit.” Yes, we will know. If you have abused the system, you will be charged a $25 disposal fee and you may have consigning privileges revoked.

Hey you moms! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some summertime sunshine! This time of year always gets me- I love snow, but ya know…sometimes we just long for warm summer days. I look around my *very* cluttered house (anyone else?) and think “I’ve got to get rid of this stuff!” Feeling a little claustrophobic yourself while you wait out winter, hoping for summer soon? Use this time to do a little healthy “purging” and plan on making some money to USE during those sunny days coming up. How? Read on!!

Three Bags Full (you know….the nursery rhyme “baa baa black sheep have you any wool? Yes sir, Yes sir, Three Bags Full!”) was created with you in mind. Sell the quality, gently-used clothes, toys and baby equipment you don’t need anymore to a mom that DOES need it! You get a return on your initial investment, they have saved money, and everyone is happy! The best part is while YOU shop for the things you do need, your items are being purchased by another mom. It’s awesome!

So, if you’re ready to jump in and sell your stuff too, here are a few things to know:

1. Gather your supplies. You’ll need gallon and quart size zip-loc bags, clear packing tape, HANGERS, safety pins and/or a tagging gun and a ream of white cardstock paper.

2. Educate yourself. Watch our Tagging videos for helpful tips on getting your items ready to sell. Read through the Consignor Library to know what you can sell (almost anything related to kids), get some pricing tips, etc.

3. Get started! Work on SIX ITEMS. Hang them, bag them, enter them in our online system, then put the tags on. Six tags print on a page, so if you tag SIX ITEMS to get started, you’ll realize how easy it really is! SIX A DAY is my motto! (Although a super size marathon tagging weekend has also been known to happen in this house!)

It’s that easy! There are documents and information on the website to answer your questions and help you along the way, but really, jumping in and getting started is the best thing to do.

Keep reading! We’ll be posting more blogs soon, with tips and tricks for tagging, stashing your stuff, getting the family involved and more. Stay tuned and see you at the sale!
